HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Faulkner had a pair of divergent performances in a doubleheader split with William Carey Thursday, a series moved up from Saturday to avoid the threat of inclement weather. 
WILLIAM CAREY 9, FAULKNER 1 
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Susie Lebert sinlged home Alex Davis to put the Crusaders up 1-0. Anna Grace Cooley later singled home Dee Dee West for the 2-0 William Carey lead. 
Faulkner appeared poised to answer in the top of the fifth when 
Ashton Fielding and 
Tara Ammons hit back-to-back singles to open the frame. Faulkner's bats could do no damage with the opportunity, going 1-2-3 to end the threat. 
William Carey plated three runs in the bottom of the to lead 5-0 before Faulkner got on the board. 
Shelbie Burbage singled with two away in the sixth before scoring on a wild throw to cut it to 5-1. Faulkner's bats were unable to solve Haley Nations any further as the Crusaders scored four more in the sixth to end the game. 
FAULKNER 7, WILLIAM CAREY 1 
The Lady Eagles jumped on top quickly in game two. A hit-by-pitch to 
Kendall Bennett with two outs extended to the top of the first, enabling 
Ashton Fielding to rip a two-run homer to right. 
After William Carey got one back in the bottom of the second, Faulkner added a pair of runs in the third. 
Taylor Eddy singled to second to open the inning. She later stole second and scored on Ammons' single to left. 
Caity Jo Lee's double to right-center drove home Ammons to make it 4-1. 
Fielding's leadoff double in the top of fifth set the stage for an insurance run. 
Erika Mitchell's single to center plated Fielding for the 5-1 lead. 
The Lady Eagles put together another two-out rally in the seventh to add to the lead. 
Jordan Boyd singled in 
Kaileigh Harrison to make it 6-1. 
Brianna Cagle followed with a triple to right to drive in Boyd and cap the scoring. 
Katelynn Inness (6-3) handled her business in the circle as she struck out four batters over seven innings of work while scattering six hits, walking two and allowing one earned run. 
Faulkner (28-12, 14-6 SSAC) wraps the regular season with a doubleheader Friday at Mobile.
