HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Faulkner Cross Country ran its second event of the season and logged three personal records in the Southern Showcase, an event that featured numerous NCAA Division I and II programs as well as quality JUCO teams. The women's team finished 22nd of 26 in a 5K and the men were 26th out of 28 in an 8K.
Avery Rogers led the Lady Eagles, finishing 83rd out of 192 runners with a 21:53. Mallory Lawyer was next, finishing 110th with a 22:39, and Lacy Strength was four spots behind her with a 22:51 and an almost exact finish as her first collegiate time at the Foothills Invitational. Sarah Lorimor was 149th with a 5K personal best of 25:13, and Claudia Velazquez finished the event for Faulkner at 177th with a 30:54.
Chase Lawson led his team with a 28:05 time and a 65th place finish out of 239 runners. Cole Charles was the next finisher in 142nd with a 29:39. Creed Spivey came in 159th with a 30:14, and Carson Roberson was 10 spots behind with a 30:33. Christopher Santoyo finished in 177th with a 30:55. Lastly, freshmen Kayden Pierce and James Brooks earned 8K PRs, as Pierce had a 32:27 to finish 196th and Brooks finished in nearly 37 minutes flat to come in 225th.
The teams return to play next weekend on Saturday, the 26th, in the annual Firehawk Invitational hosted by UT Southern at the Oakville Indian Mounds.
