Hal Wynn

Hal Wynn is entering his 34th season as the leader of the Faulkner softball program. He has worked for the university for 40 years and has piloted the softball program since its inaugural season in 1992.

Under his leadership, Faulkner has posted winning records in 12 of the last 19 seasons and has recorded at least 25 wins in all but seven full seasons. The program has accumulated 30 or more wins 11 times and earned bids to the NAIA Region XIII tournament in 12 of the last 13 seasons it was held.

Wynn led the Lady Eagles to the NAIA World Series for the first time in program history after winning its first Opening Round appearance under the new format in 2018. The team went 48-16

Wynn claimed his 900th career victory on April 12, 2024, with a 3-1 decision over Brewton-Parker on the road. The program's overall record currently sits at 911-771-2.

He was named the SSAC Coach of the Year in 2005, 2008 and 2021.

The success of Wynn's teams hasn't been restricted to the field. He has always placed a major emphasis on academics and has seen many of his student-athletes selected to a variety of conference, regional and national all-academic teams.

In addition to his role as the softball coach, Wynn served 11 years as the athletic director after spending 10 years as assistant athletic director where his primary focus was NAIA compliance and student-athlete eligibility.

The coach was honored with a surprise ceremony before a home series in 2010 where the Faulkner Softball Complex was renamed Wynn Field.

Wynn was a standout middle-infielder for the baseball team at what was then Alabama Christian College where he graduated in 1978. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from Troy University in 1980.

Originally from Brundidge, Ala., he and his wife Rhea have a son, James, and a daughter, Jacqui. The Wynns have two grandsons, Easton and Brodie. The Wynns are active members of the Dalraida church of Christ.
