Individually, a pair of Turner’s tight ends earned accolades as both Anthony Howard and Kendric Johnson earned Phil Steele All-SWAC honors, along with Johnson being named All-SWAC Team in 2019.

Before coming to Alabama A&M, Turner spent the 2018 season at North Carolina Central as the Tight Ends coach. During the 2018 season, Turner coached Shermon McLeod, who led all MEAC tight ends in receiving yards and touchdowns while earning All-MEAC honors.
