Corey Barlow completed his first season at Faulkner University after having served as a defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Savannah State University. Barlow’s defense allowed less total points and less total yardage than its immediate predecessor in the 2017 squad. Barlow also previously as the interim head coach of Savannah State. 

Prior to his tenure at Savannah State, Barlow spent five years as the cornerbacks coach at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. 

Barlow also spent a year as the defensive backs coach at both the University of Rhode Island and Morehouse College. He also spent a season at Southside High School in Atlanta, Ga. 

A native of Atlanta, Barlow is a former All-American cornerback at Auburn University where he lettered four years (1988-1991). He holds a spot on Auburn’s All-Decade team for the 1990s and was captain of that 1991 Auburn team, a year in which he earned Most Valuable Defensive Player honors. 

During his four years at Auburn, Barlow earned All-SEC honors in 1990 and 1991 and garnered All-American accolades as a senior following the 1991 season. He played in the 1988 Sugar Bowl, 1989 Hall of Fame Bowl and the 1990 Peach Bowl. After his senior season, he played in the Blue-Gray All-Star Game and the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

The Philadelphia Eagles selected Barlow in the fifth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played three seasons for the franchise. 

Barlow is married to the former Tia Reid of Greensboro, Ga. The couple has three daughters, Secori, Kai London and Kherington Lauren.
