Golden Tigers ice Lady Eagles in straight sets

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner squandered a healthy lead in the second set and allowed Southern States Athletic Conference rival Brenau to claim two straight en route to their second win over the Lady Eagles this season. The Golden Tigers took the match 25-18, 25-22, 25-13.

Faulkner had difficulty with Melissa Thronton and Danelle Russell who combined for 28 kills. Thornton led the visitors with 16, hitting .417, while Russell added 12, hitting .400.

Brittnay Renfroe continued her hot streak with 12 kills, hitting an impressive .524 and had a block.

Autumn Benson followed with seven, hitting .375, and also had a block.

Morgan Wilson had 13 assists and led the defense with 10 digs. Sarah Ford also had 13 assists and had eight digs.

Faulkner dropped to 10-18 overall and 2-11 in the league. The Lady Eagles will close the season at home on Thursday evening against conference foe Brewton-Parker. The team will honor lone senior Anna DeRamus in a special post-game ceremony for Senior Night. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
