Faulkner blisters Huntingdon

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After a rough week in brutal conference play, Faulkner entered a non-conference matchup with crosstown opponent Huntingdon Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles, who'd been working on patching holes in their defense in recent practices, showed up ready to fight and secured their first straight set victory of the season 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.

"I'm really happy with the way the girls executed," said head coach Tori Bartels. "Huntingdon wasn't quite as strong as they've been in the past, but we learned something valuable tonight - we have to be willing to punch the gas and play high caliber volleyball no what."

The Lady Eagles spread the wealth on offense with Taylor Dollison once again leading the pack. The freshman middle had nine kills, hitting .467, and added four total blocks.

Kelsey Bell stepped her game up logging six kills, hitting .625. She also had five digs and three aces.

Shelby Woods also had six kills, hitting .455, and had two blocks.

Kelli Lamb and Ariel Riley each had five kills and hit .625 and .400 respectively.

Anna DeRamus had 12 digs to lead the defense and Morgan Wilson had 21 assists.

Faulkner moved to 4-7 on the year and will jump back into Southern States Athletic Conference action this weekend. The Lady Eagles kick things off at 6 p.m. on Friday against Emmanuel in Franklins Springs, Ga.
