No. 17 Belhaven blanks Faulkner 4-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - No. 17 Belhaven stuck twice in each half while holding Faulkner scoreless to earn the 4-0 shutout in this afternoon's Southern States Athletic Conference event here at John Mark Stallings Field.

The Blazers struck first in the 18th minute when Jose Sergio Presti found Rodrigo Suarez who headed the ball in the upper netting behind the keeper.

Lucas Talaveira Beif then scored on a solo effort with a rocket in the upper 90 with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Six minutes into the second period Eduardo Cruz took a Cillian Thompson pass in for the third goal of the game before Presti capitalized in a one-on-one with the keeper in the 86th minute of the event.

Diego de Silva (0-1) allowed two goals while tallying four saves in one half of play in the loss.

Pritchard Ndaira held the frame in the second half and secured six saves while allowing a pair of goals.

The Eagles recognized their five seinors in a special ceremony before the game. Stephane Kanghah, Steven Giraldo, Didier Atse, Tawanda Taurai and Martin Mutanda were all recognized for their outstanding contributions to the program. 

Faulkner fell to 3-12-1 overall and 2-8 in the league. The Eagles will host No. 8 William Carey in the final event of the season Saturday at 6 p.m.
