Faulkner rebounds from sloppy start, takes down Bethel in four sets

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner battled out of a disappointing set one performance this afternoon against Southern States Athletic Conference foe Bethel to claim the much-needed victory 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-16.

 

The home team was out of sorts in the opener and never really gained enough traction to prove a threat to the Wlidcats. Things shifted in ensuing sets, however, as the Lady Eagles began to harness the momentum.

 

Faulkner trailed only twice the reminder of the outing and after edging the visitors in the middle rounds posted a dominating win to offset the set one blunder.

 

Sarah Dubberley blistered the Wildcats with 13 kills while hitting . 423 on the day.

 

Alysa Klassen was again a beast at the net with with eight kills and led the defense with seven total blocks.

 

Sarah Ford offered up seven kills while hitting .263 and had five block assists.

 

Brittnay Renfroe was also a force at the net with six total blocks and five kills.

 

Morgan Wilson and KK Lo split the setting duties down the middle and tallied 22 assists each.

 

Lindsey Ortner was the team's dig leader with 27 followed by Delricka Anthony with 15 and Cassie Bailie with 10.

 

The win marked Faulkner's thirds straight against league opponents. The Lady Eagles sit at 16-8 overall and 6-5 in the conference. The birds next travel to SSAC opponent Brewton-Parker on Oct. 17. That match is set for 6 p.m. central in Mt. Veronon, Ga.
