Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner handled Loyola with ease in the first two sets and rebound nicely from a third bout loss to earn the Southern States Athletic Conference victory 25-17, 25-12, 17-25, 25-15.
The Lady Eagles managed to generate a pair of victories rather quickly and without much difficulty, but then backed off the throttle and trailed the entire third set.
The home team did get the vehicle back in gear in the final round to snap a three-game SSAC losing streak with the win.
Faulkner had 10 total team blocks in the match and hit .215 as a unit.
Sarah Dubberley was the kill leader for Faulkner with 13 hitting .360.
Brittnay Renfroe offered up 10 while hitting .240 and adding four total blocks.
Alysa Klassen had nine kills hitting .346 and had six total blocks.
Libero Lindsey Ortner had an outstanding match as well with 34 digs.
Morgan Wilson and Jordan Jones again split time in the setting roll and distributed 25 and 21 assists respectively.
"That was a conference win and we needed that," said head coach Tori Bartels. "We're still struggling with backing off a bit when we're ahead, but I'm not going to dissect this one too much. We have a week to look things over before jumping back into the thick of it. Right now, we're going to enjoy the victory."
Faulkner improved to 14-8 overall and 4-5 in the league. The Lady Eagles will next host Martin Methodist in SSAC play on Oct. 10. Faulkner edged the RedHawks in five sets in the previous meeting this season. The match is set for 7 p.m. on Friday.
