Faulkner earns four-set victory over Loyola

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Faulkner rebounded from a set one loss and went on to claim it's 20th win of the season with the four-set decision over Loyola 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22 here in today's Southern States Athletic Conference matchup. It's the first time since 2007 the Lady Eagles have crossed the 20-win threshold.

Faulkner hit an impressive .328 overall and had three weapons with double-digit kills on the afternoon.

Alysa Klassen continues to impress on both sides of the ball. The sophomore middle posted 14 kills (.353) and 11 digs, both career highs, and led the defense with five total blocks.

Sarah Dubberley matched Klassen's kill mark and hit .550 in the process. The outside hitter also had six digs and four stops at the net.

Hannah Shanley rounded out a great weekend with 11 kills and lead the team with a potent .625 hitting percentage.

Setters Jordan Jones and Morgan Wilson split duties feeding the front row and tallied 20 and 17 assists respectively. Jones also had 10 digs.

The back row was scrappy as well with libero Lindsey Ortner leading the way with 15 digs followed by Cassie Bailie with 13.

"This was an important win for us," said head coach Tori Bartels. "We fell off our game last night and we needed to bounce back strong today and not let the loss keep us down and we did that. Loyola was ready for us and played really well. Our errors were down, our hitting was well-distributed and well-executed and overall I felt like we played strong volleyball. There's not much more I could have asked for today."

Faulkner improved to 20-10 overall and 10-7 in the league. The Lady Eagles will next host Talladega on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
