Faulkner recovers from sluggish start, blasts Talladega in straight sets

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner struggled generating any consistency in tonight's opening set against Talladega, but recovered nicely in the ensuing bouts to rock the Tornados 25-21, 25-10, 25-9 here at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

 

Talladega hit just .052 as a team and managed only a single block while the Lady Eagles logged six team stops and hit .326 offensively.

 

Sarah Dubberley hit .222 with eight kills on the home side.

 

Brittnay Renfroe followed with seven kills hitting an incredible .875 and added five total blocks to the performance.

 

Hannah Shanley hit .667 with six kills.

 

Morgan Wilson had 20 assists in the match and Lindsey Ortner had 20 digs.

 

Faulkner moved to 21-10 overall and will next host Southern States Athletic Conference foe Belhaven in the regular season finale here on Saturday. The match is set for 2 p.m. with a special senior ceremony following play.
