COCHRAN, Ga. - Middle Georgia State managed a goal in each half while holding Faulkner to just a solo score in the second period to claim the 2-1 decision in Southern States Athletic Conference opening action here this evening.

Jon Strom proved he was the weapon of choice for the Knights against the Eagles. The freshman forward had four shots, all of which were on target, and ultimately landed a pair. Strom stuck first near the 22-minute mark when he made good on a Romel Jordan cross before shaking the netting again just under six minutes into the second half.

Faulkner did ignite the scoreboard 12 minutes later when Mehdi Himmich found Kofi Forkuoh for the score, but the Eagles were unable to tie the event before time expired.

Diego da Silva (5-2-1) logged six saves and allowed a pair of goals in the loss.

Faulkner will next travel to Dalton State for another SSAC battle on Saturday at 7 p.m.
