Faulkner takes down Martin Methodist in straight sets

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner overcame a sluggish start to claim the straight-sets victory against Southern States Athletic Conference foe Martin Methodist 25-23, 25-18, 25-16 here at Tine Davis Gymnasium this evening.

The Lady Eagles battled through numerous early-evening jitters and mental blunders which included a handful of service errors and sloppy defense before play began to level out. Once Faulkner found its rhythm, however, there was little the Redhawks could do to thwart the inevitable.

Alysa Klassen was brilliant at the net for Faulkner co-leading on the offensive side of play with 10 kills while hitting .381 and adding four block assists.

Sarah Dubberley also posted 10 kills and led the back row with 21 digs to log her 10th double-double of the season.

Hannah Shanley added eight more kills for the Lady Eagles while hitting an impressive .438.

Katie Musser offered up 22 assists and Jordan Jones added 14 more. Each setter also had 10 digs.

Libero Cassie Bailie had 17 digs on the night.

Faulkner improved to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the league. The Lady Eagles next host conference rival Bethel in a crucial matchup on Saturday at 2 p.m.
