Box Score McKENZIE, Tenn. - Faulkner dropped the hammer on Bethel early in today's Southern States Athletic Conference match, but the home team responded promptly with three consecutive wins to claim the overall victory 15-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.
"Bethel started slow, but then really caught fire today," said head coach Tori Bartels. "You have to give the Wildcats the credit, they played very well and they got the win. I thought our girls really fought hard. We were in the same place two years ago. They got us in both of the regular season games, but we got them in the conference tourney. We're hoping for a similar result this time around."
Outside hitter Hannah Shanley was the kill leader for Faulkner with 14 while hitting a solid .306. The sophomore also recorded her first double-double of the year with 11 digs on the defensive end of the spectrum.
Sarah Dubberley followed with eight kills and was third defensively with 15 digs.
Alysa Klassen offered up five kills for the offense, but her defensive numbers at the net looked like they were stolen from the dig column. The junior middle logged a ridiculous 13 total blocks against the Wildcats.
Jordan Jones was second for the defense with 16 digs and offered up 15 assists for the hitting pool. Fellow setter Katie Musser had 16 assists and six digs.
Libero Cassie Bailie led the back line with 18 digs.
Faulkner dropped to 20-11 overall and 9-5 in the league. The Lady Eagles next host Mobile in an SSAC battle at Tine Davis Gym on Friday at 7 p.m. Faulkner will then close out the regular season at home and honor its seniors in the Loyola game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
