Faulkner rolls Loyola in regular season finale

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner wasted little time in securing the 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Loyola in the Southern States Athletic Conference and regular season finale here at Tine Davis Gymnasium this afternoon.

The Lady Eagles did an outstanding job of keeping the visitors from making too many dangerous runs and led in virtually every statistical category.

Sarah Dubberley was again the kill leader for Faulkner with nine and had seven digs.

Alysa Klassen offered up six kills while hitting .545 and had five total blocks. Hannah Shanley also had six kills in the match.

Libero Cassie Bailie led the back line with 14 digs followed by Derrick Anthony who had 10. The defensive duo also had three and two service aces, respectively.

As usual Katie Musser and Jordan Jones split time loading the attack. Musser had 18 assists and five digs while Jones added 12 assists and seven digs.

Seniors (from left) Sarah Dubberley, Delricka Anthony, Elissa Cargile and Sarah Ford were honored after the game.

Faulkner closed the regular season at 21-12 overall. The Lady Eagles (10-6 SSAC) finished the year fourth in the league and will be the second seed in Pool A in the upcoming SSAC tournament set to begin next week. Faulkner will open pool action with Brenau at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in downtown Montgomery. The birds then take flight against Loyola on Friday at 10 a.m. before closing out bracket-preparation play against top-seeded Coastal Georgia at 5 p.m.

The top two teams from each pool will compete in the semifinals Saturday morning with the championship slated for 2 p.m.
