Box Score MOBILE, Ala. - Faulkner knew it would be an uphill battle tonight against Southern States Athletic Conference titan Mobile, but things became even more problematic when starting middle Krystalynn Leomiti went down with an ankle injury in the first set. The Lady Eagles continued to battle despite the setback, but Mobile clinched the straight-sets victory 25-22, 25-15, 25-23.
Mobile's triple threat up front ultimately proved an invaluable factor in the team's win. Bailey Nations, Hannah Wentland and Alex Karcher all posted double-digit kills while hitting north of the .400 mark and combined for eight total blocks.
In addition, Faulkner's seven missed serves proved critical in a match that saw a pair of victories determined by a total of five points.
Alysa Klassen was on point in the Lady Eagle game plan and offered up eight kills while leading at the net defensively with four total stops.
Sarah Dubberley was consistent, as usual, with eight kills of her own, hitting .304, and had 10 digs.
Hannah Shanley followed with seven kills.
Leomiti proved a devastating loss on both sides of play. The freshman ranks second on the team in total blocks and third in kills as a six-rotation weapon for the Lady Eagles.
Fellow middle Tori Marchant stepped up in a big way for Faulkner in Leomiti's absence, however. The freshman contributed four kills, hitting .800, and was second defensively at the net with three total blocks.
Katie Musser had 15 assists and Jordan Jones added 13 more.
Libero Cassie Bailie tallied 13 digs in the match.
Faulkner dropped to 7-5 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Lady Eagles will travel to New Orleans on Saturday to take on Loyola in SSAC action. The match is set for noon.
