Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Faulkner overcame a rowdy crowed and scrappy offense to clinch the straight-sets victory over Fisk University here this evening 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.
Sarah Dubberley led the Lady Eagles with 13 kills from the outside, while hitting .591, and was second on the back row with 10 digs.
Hannah Shanley followed with 11 kills on the outside, hitting .321, and had three total blocks.
Middle hitter Alysa Klassen was next in line with seven kills and had a pair of block assists.
Jordan Jones and Katie Musser split time divvying up the assists and logged 14 and 12, respectively. Jones also accounted for half of the team's service aces with three.
Libero Cassie Bailie anchored the back line with 11 digs.
"I thought we played really well tonight," said head coach Tori Bartels. "It was a lowed and spirited crowed and Fisk came ready to play. They've done a lot to improve the program here, but our girls just never backed down. Fisk had a healthy lead early in set two and it took the entire 25 points to get back in control and I'm proud of our girls for not giving up. That was a big confidence boost and ultimately what pushed us on to a 3-0 win."
Faulkner improved to 9-5 overall and will next travel to Dalton State for a Southern States Athletic Conference match on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lady Eagles are currently 1-1 in the league.
