Faulkner outlasts Brenau 3-2 in SSAC showdown

GAINSVILLE, Ga. - Faulkner extended its win streak to four games with a full-sets thriller tonight here against Brenau 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-8.

 

Sarah Dubberley was again the kill leader with 12 and had 26 digs as the team's six-rotation outside hitter.

 

Alysa Klassen was brilliant as well with 11 kills, while hitting .444, and added five total blocks.

 

Hannah Shanley also had 11 kills for Faulkner and added nine digs.

 

Libero Cassie Bailie was on fire for the defense and logged a career-high 34 digs.

 

Katie Musser held down one side of the setting duo with 20 assists and eight digs while Jordan Jones offered up 18 assists and 13 digs.

 

"We did some great things tonight and then we turned around and made some poor decisions and Breanu capitalized," said head coach Tori Bartels. "The girls did a great job of staying focused through some long pauses in play and that turned out to be big for us. I'm glad we picked up the win and look forward to returning to our own court for the first time since the Invitational."

 

Faulkner improved to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the SSAC. The Lady Eagles will host their first home league match of the season against Brewton-Parker on Friday at 7 p.m.
