MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After Loyola's Nate Pierre made the first basket of the game, Faulkner (8-11 overall, 2-5 SSAC) made the next eight baskets to lead 20-2 at the 15-minute mark. Faulkner rode the momentum to a 23-point lead with nine minutes left in the half, and coasted ton an 81-70 victory here Saturday afternoon in a Southern States Athletic Conference showdown at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

Logan Jozwiak's three 3-pointers led Faulkner at the break, but Lucas Luttrell had the hot hand down the stretch for the Eagles. Luttrell knocked down six 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 29 points. Di'mar Hill and Jozwiak added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The 45 percent team shooting was supported by an intense defensive effort as the Eagles stole the ball nine times on their way to forcing 15 total turnovers. Faulkner outrebounded Loyola  40-32, led by Monta Sanford's eight. Jozwiak, Luttrell, and Hill added seven boards each.

The Wolfpack (7-7 overall, 3-4 SSAC) offense was led by Nick Parker's 25 points. Johnny Griffin, Jr. contributed a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

"I was proud of the defensive effort, especially in the first 15 minutes," head coach Scott Sanderson said. "We stuck with it for 40 minutes and were able to come out with a good conference win. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the games to come."

Faulkner welcomes SSAC foe Mobile to Tine Davis Gymnasium Monday night at 7:30.
