Box Score Faulkner blasts Brewton-Parker in straight sets
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner struck fast and hard early against Brewton-Parker in this afternoon's Southern States Athletic Conference match and went on to secure the straight-sets victory 25-6, 25-15, 25-18 here at Tine Davis Gymnasium.
Faulkner started the season 0-8, and since that time has gone 11-3 to even its overall record at 11-11. The win also elevated the Lady Eagles to 7-3 in the league where they currently rank fourth out of 11 teams.
The birds hit .299 against the Barons (0-15, 0-10 SSAC) this afternoon, but a slow-tempo Brewton-Parker offense kept the Faulkner block out of threat mode leaving the home team with just three total for the match.
Daijah Washington was the kill leader with eight, hitting an season high .800. She also had four digs.
Madelyn Cheatham and Madison Sides followed with six kill each hitting .294 and .250, respectively.
Tori Marchant had five kills, hitting .308, and led the defense up front with three total blocks. Alysa Klassen and Holly Hudson also had five kills each and hit .455 and .222, respectively.
Katie Musser matched last night's assist total with 33 and added eight digs and three aces.
Libero Julianne Wilkes led the court with 18 digs.
Faulkner will have 11 days to rest before traveling to Dalton State on Oct. 12. The Lady Eagles took down the Roadrunners 3-1 at home previously this season. The matchup in Dalton, Ga., is set for 6 p.m. central.
