Faulkner blanks Loyola 3-0

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner's (14-12, 10-4 SSAC) offensive power struggled to match that of Loyola (12-16, 6-7 SSAC) in tonight's Southern States Athletic Conference match here at Tine Davis Gymnasium, but attack efficiency and brilliant work by the Lady Eagle defense up front ultimately proved the deciding factor in the home team's 25-18, 25-016, 25-17 victory.

Despite falling in straight sets the Wolf Pack led in total kills with 38, while the Lady Eagles managed just 27. Notable statistical differences that contributed heavily to the overall outcome, however, were attack errors and team blocks.

Loyola had 33 offensive errors at the net, hitting just .040 overall, and delivered just three team blocks.

Faulkner, on the other hand, hit .221 as a unit and had 13 total blocks on the night.

Alysa Klassen had nine total blocks anchoring Faulkner's defensive front. The senior middle added three kills, hitting .200.

Freshman outside hitter Daijah Washington led the offense with nine kills, hitting an impressive .500, and had four digs over three sets.

Sophomore middle Tori Marchant had four kills, hitting .375, and had four total blocks.

Freshman libero Julianne Wilkes offered up 13 digs while sophomore setter Katie Musser had 11 assists and seven digs.

Faulkner will close out its home schedule tomorrow against William Carey in another SSAC bout at 2 p.m. The team will also honor it's seniors in a special ceremony following the event.
