Bethel takes down Faulkner 3-1

Box Score

McKENZIE, Tenn. - Faulkner (15-13, 11-5 SSAC) sparked with insane confidence and intensity in the second set of tonight's Southern States Athletic Conference dual with Bethel (21-5, 14-2 SSAC), but was unable to hold the momentum through the remainder of the bout as the Wildcats clinched the win 25-22, 8-25, 25-15, 25-16.

The Lady Eagles found a solid tempo early against the high-octane Bethel squad, but by the 20-20 mark the home team managed to inch ahead and tally the early win.

Faulkner could do little wrong in the ensuing set, however, and answered the loss with an absolute beat down of the Wildcats.

Bethel didn't lick it's wounds long though and after regaining its composure went on to log a pair of decisive wins and book the overall victory.

"We played hot and then cold," said head coach Tori Bartels after the game. "We just weren't consistent. We should have taken the first set and I think going up 2-0 could have changed things, but Bethel is a very good team with lots of weapons and we couldn't put the ball down against them. We had too many plays out of system and you can't beat quality teams with disorganized attacks."

Cassie Bailie recorded her third double-double of the season digging 15 shots while putting away 10 kills with a .292 hitting efficiency.

Alysa Klassen, Kiki Coombs and Daijah Washington each added six kills on the night. Klassen had a court-high six total blocks and Washington added seven digs.

Katie Musser had 16 assists and Krystalynn Leomiti had 10 more.

Libero Julianne Wilkes had 15 digs on the night.

Faulkner will next travel to Pulaski, Tenn., to take on Martin Methodist in SSAC action at 3 p.m. on Monday.
