Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (6-2) responded well from a shaky offensive start and capitalized on stellar defensive work in the fourth quarter to secure the 56-46 victory over Pensacola Christian (5-5) here at Tine Davis Gymnasium this afternoon.
The visiting Lady Eagles controlled the scoring tempo throughout the first period, but by the second quarter, Faulkner was in the driver's seat.
The home lead reached 14 points a third of the way through the third quarter, but a 19-4 run by Pensacola Christian over the ensuing 12 minutes moved the visitors into a one point lead.
Defensive efficiency helped catapult Faulkner back into he lead and eventual win, however, as the Lady Eagle delivered just a single foul in the fourth quarter while the visitors suffered nine.
Half of Faulkner's final 14 points came at the free throw line.
Faith LeGate was again the point leader for Faulkner with 14 and added four rebounds.
Hannah Vest followed with nine points and China Leary had eight points, four rebounds and three assists.
Brandy Alley led defensively with nine rebounds and scored all six of her points at the free throw line.
Faulkner will next enter Southern States Athletic Conference action in Cochran, Ga., against Middle Georgia State on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. central.
