Faulkner earns third straight SSAC win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner hit above .200 as a unit for its third consecutive match and with it came its third straight Southern States Athletic Conference victory, this time against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 here at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

 

Faulkner was mostly consistent through the evening barring a string of serve receive blunders in the second set.

 

The Lady Eagles used a diverse set of weapons to orchestrate the attack with six hitters logging more than four kills. The home team also out-blocked the RedHawks (2-8) seven to zero on the night.

 

Freshman Madelyn Cheatham led the entire floor with nine kills and also had the highest hitting percentage of any player with a .368. The right side also had three block assists and a pair of digs.

 

Alysa Klassen and Cassie Bailie each added seven kills, hitting .286 and .222, respectively. Bailie was a dominant defensive force as well rocking 31 digs. Klassen also had three total blocks.

 

Daijah Washington followed with five kills, hitting .214.

 

Tori Marchant matched Washington's kill total and added an impressive seven block assists.

 

Julianne Wilkes was second on the back row with 13 digs followed by Ashley Ingwersen who offered up 12 and added four kills.

 

Krystalynn Leomiti fed 19 assists to the hitters and had five total blocks and as many digs.

 

Katie Musser had 18 assists and six digs on the night..

 

Faulkner improved to 3-8 overall and 3-0 in the league. The Lady Eagles will take on Agnes Scott in the Huntingdon Hawks Invitational across town tomorrow at noon before returning home to host Bethel (Tenn.) in SSAC action at 7 p.m.
