Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Lady Eagles kicked off a bizarrely arranged weekend schedule this afternoon here at the Huntingdon Hawks Invitational across town. Faulkner opened what will culminate as a tai-match event with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-22 victory over NCAA Div. III opponent Agens Scott (Ga.).
Despite the straight-sets win the Lady Eagles seemed a bit disoriented out of the starting block and struggled throughout the match where they normally excel; on the block. Faulkner managed five total blocks in the outing, less than half its average in the three previous wins.
The birds did, however, continue to improve their figures on the offensive side of play. The team hit .243 as a unit and tallied only 12 hitting errors; a season low.
The Scotties (3-1) hit .155 and had two total team blocks.
Cassie Bailie was again the kill leader with 10. The junior libero turned six-rotation hitter paced .276 against Agnes Scott and was also the dig leader with 17.
Alysa Klassen added seven kills, hitting .333.
Tori Marchant had five kills, hitting .500, and led the defense with three total blocks.
Madelyn Cheatham and Daijah Washington each also had five kills.
Libero Julianne Wilkes had 11 digs.
Katie Musser had 19 assists and a pair of aces and Krystalynn Leomiti added 14 more and had four kills, hitting .400.
Faulkner moved to 4-8 overall and will return to action tonight when it hosts Southern States Athletic Conference foe Bethel at Tine Davis Gym. The match is set for 7 p.m.
