Faulkner takes down Xavier 3-1

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Faulkner overcame a rowdy home crowed and exploded out of a 1-1 tie to earn the win over Xavier 25-19, 19-25, 25-20, 25-18 here this afternoon.

 

The Lady Eagles (8-10) saw stellar offensive production out of the middle and right side against the Nuggets (7-12). 

 

Middle hitters Tori Marchant and Alysa Klassen combined to log half of the team's eight total blocks with four and three total stops, respectively.

 

Klassen led on the offensive side of play with 11 kills, hitting a solid .333.

 

Right side Kiki Coombs followed with 10 kills, hitting .240 on the day.

 

Marchant was third with eight kills and hit .214.

 

Outside hitters Daijah Washington and Ashley Ingwersen proved assets on both sides of the rallies as well. Washington tied libero Julianne Wilkes with 23 digs, while Ingwersen books 20. Ingwersen also had six kills, hitting, .263, and Washington contributed five more.

 

Katie Musser tallied 26 assists and had seven digs over four sets and Krystalynn Leomiti added 12 assists.

 

Faulkner now ventures back towards home with one more stop along the way. The Lady Eagles will take on Southern States Athletic Conference newcomer William Carey in Hattiesburg, Miss., tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
