Box Score

Updated story by Carter Moles

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Mobile (6-4) scored twice in the first half and again in the second to claim the 3-0 victory over Faulkner (5-3) in tonight's Southern States Athletic Conference opener here at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.

The Eagles had several good looks at goal in the outing, the best coming on a penalty kick try early in the game which Renan de Sousa placed off frame to the left side.

Mobile struck first on a goal from Mark Green off of a punch from goalie Diego da Silva in the 31st minute.

Newton Henry's head connected with a corner kick from Matthew McArthur in the 39th minute to double the Ram lead.

The final goal was scored in the 66th when Mohamed Conde hammered a pass from Henry into the roof of the netting.

Faulkner outshot the Rams 11 to eight, but Mobile landed seven attempts on goal opposed to the Eagles six.

Mobile goalkeepers Hayden Dees and Juan Montealegre combined for a clean sheet, each recording three saves.

Faulkner's da Silva (5-3) recorded four saves in the loss.

"We still dominated possession," said head coach Kyle Beard, "but we missed a couple opportunities and in this conference you can't miss opportunities."

The Eagles will look to bounce back from two straight losses against (RV) William Carey (5-1-1) Saturday at 7:30 pm at home.
