Faulkner stuns No. 20 Loyola 82-77

Box Score

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Faulkner (12-4, 4-2 SSAC) led for all but four minutes in this afternoon's 82-77 Southern States Athletic Conference victory over No. 20 Loyola (12-3, 4-1 SSAC) here at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

The Lady Eagles led by as many as 14 points through the first 34 minutes of action, but found themselves down eight halfway through the fourth quarter behind an 11-0 Wolfpack run that kicked off the fourth quarter.

Faulkner responded in kind, however, with 17 unanswered points of its own following the stall to catapult itself back into a permanent lead.

Faith LeGate resumed her role as an offensive power for the home team securing a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

China Leary was also electric for the Lady Eagles with 19 points anchored by a 6-for-7 effort from 3-point territory.

Shelby Williams added 12 points, a court-high six assists and three rebounds.

"I don't know what to say," said head coach Reed Sutton after the big win, "I'm so proud of this team and what they've accomplished here. I thought we played really good for 39 of the 40 minute and that effort paid off. Faith was great and looking like herself in both scoring and rebounding and China , who's not been shooting at her best recently, was just amazing. We continue to get solid work off of our bench as well. These girls can start for a lot of teams in the league, they can start for us, but they come in when we need a boost and give us that and this is making a huge difference as we get deeper into play."

Faulkner will next travel to Mt. Vernon, Ga., to take on Brewton-Parker in SSAC action on Thursday, Nov. 12. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. central.
