NEW ORLEANS, La. - Faulkner (11-8, 4-5 SSAC) may have suffered a disappointing loss in Hattiesburg yesterday, but rebounded with a critical Southern States Athletic Conference victory over Loyola (11-13, 2-7 SSAC) 23-25, 28-26, 25-13, 25-20 to gain the season sweep here this afternoon.
The Lady Eagles dominated the floor in every facet of the contest. As a unit, the team hit .300 while out-blocking the Wolfpack eight to three.
Faulkner's kill leaders ranked in the same order as yesterday, but with better numbers.
Madelyn Cheatham pounded 15 kills while hitting an impressive .464. The sophomore hitter also added a pair of block assists to her figures.
Kirsten Carter and Kortney Barnes were again tied in the kill column with 13 each while hitting a staggering .480 and .259, respectively. Each player also had three block assists.
Tori Marchant hit .269 with nine kills, but destroyed the Loyola attack with five total stops up front. The junior middle was also second on the team in digs with 11.
Five Lady Eagles produced double-digit digs in the match. Joining Marchant we're back row leader Julianne Wilkes with a court-high 22 scoops while Ashley Ingwersen, Cassie Bailie and Katie Musser each had 10.
Musser went on to secure another double-double by dishing out a career-high 44 assists.
Faulkner faces SUNO in non-division action here at 2 p.m. today.
