Lady Eagles hang on late, start season 2-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner's women's basketball team was able to grind out a 74-69 win against Life University (0-2) in the second round of the Jimmy Faulkner Classic at Tine Davis Gymnasium this evening.

 

Brandy Alley pulled down 19 rebounds in the game, and Kayla Tillman led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 19 points.

 

Faulkner led for almost the entire second half, but the Running Eagles were able to fight back from a 10-point deficit to move the event within one point in the fourth frame.

 

The Lady Eagles built their lead back up, and late free throws sealed the game in their favor.

 

Nicole Shirley came down with 10 rebounds in her second career game after securing a team-high 14 last night. She also added nine points to her tally.

 

Savana Flack was the only other Lady Eagle with double-digit points, finishing with 10 while also booking seven rebounds.

 

Faulkner's next game will be against Pensacola Christian on Tuesday at Tine Davis Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
