MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner's men's basketball team (4-0) came from behind in the second half to take down Thomas University 70-62 in its first game of the Veterans Day Classic at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

The Night Hawks jumped out to an early 9-0 lead to start the game, and would stay in front for the entirety of the first half, going up by as much as 10.

The Eagles were able to get things rolling late and cut the margin to three going into the half.

Thomas got its lead back up to seven to begin the second half after two straight turnovers by the home team, but Faulkner would cut into that as well. They would take their first lead of the game with 8:39 to go in the second period when C.J. Jones knocked down a three on the assist by Sean Edwards.

It was a back-and-forth battle from there on out until the Eagles started knocking down shots and building their lead up to nine points with 30 seconds remaining when Rene Scott knocked down four straight free throws after a personal and technical foul were called on the Night Hawks.

Faulkner went 11-for-22 from behind the three-point arc, eight of those coming in the second half.

Scott would go on to lead all scorers, finishing with 21 points and adding seven rebounds.

Earvin Perroni was the only other Eagle to finish with double-digit points, tallying 11, and also pulled down six rebounds.

Logan Jozwiak fell just shy of recording a double-double. He had nine rebounds and eight points.

"I like how we bounced back," head coach Scott Sanderson said. "This game showed our resiliency. It was a great team win against a very talented team."

Faulkner's next game will be against Johnson & Wales on Saturday for its second game in the Classic at Tine Davis Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for noon.
