MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner's football team started off strong and never looked back as it defeated Edward Waters 49-3 on senior day at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
The Eagles were able to score on their first drive of the game when Clayton Nicholas threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Cameron Poe-Mitchell to take an early 7-0.
Nicholas threw his second touchdown pass of the quarter to Michael Watkins for 39 yards with just under 11 minutes remaining in the quarter.
Faulkner got the running game involved early in the second period when Kawon Bryant ran for a 20-yard score.
Nicholas added a third touchdown throw to his tally with under a minute remaining in the half when he hit Joe Jones for the 16-yard score, giving the Eagles a 28-0 lead heading into halftime.
Edward Waters was able to get its only points of the game on its first drive of the second half with a 37-yard field goal.
Faulkner would pick up right where it left off in the first half, when Bryant tallied his second rushing touchdown of the game with the 18-yard score.
Nicholas would throw his fourth touchdown pass of the match when he found Terrance Sims in the endzone on the 30-yard bomb, and the Eagles would finish the third quarter up 42-3.
Faulkner would close things out with a fifth touchdown pass from Nicholas to Jazeric Peterson for 11 yards.
Nicholas was very efficient throwing the ball, going 22-for-28 for 305 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers.
Bryant led the way on the ground for the Eagles, finishing with 78 yards on 14 attempts and two touchdowns.
Jones had 69 yards on 15 attempts and had 42 receiving yards on four catches including a receiving score.
Watkins had 88 yards on three catches and one touchdown, Poe-Mitchell finished with 70 yards on three receptions and Sims also had three catches for 57 yards.
Faulkner finished 7-3 on the season and 4-1 in the Mid-South Conference Sun Division.
