MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Faulkner's women's basketball team (12-0, 2-0 SSAC) defeated Southern States Athletic Conference foe Brewton-Parker 85-66 on Saturday afternoon at Tine Davis Gymnasium to remain undefeated on the season.
The Lady Eagles jumped to an early 8-0 lead to start the game, but the Lady Barons were able to close that gap and make it a six-point game heading into the second period.
That second quarter is where Faulkner really pulled ahead. They were able to go on a 9-0 run that lasted over three minutes and extended the lead to 17. Brewton-Parker would close that gap to as low as 10, but an 8-0 to close out the quarter gave the Lady Eagles a comfortable 48-30 lead heading into halftime.
Brewton-Parker would never get within 18 points for the remainder of the game.
Brandy Alley finished with her second double-double of the week. She pulled down 15 rebounds and added 11 points.
Chelsea Burt led all scorers with 17 points and tallied six assists.
Hannah Vest was strong from behind the 3-point arc, knocking down three of four and finishing with 12 points.
Savana Flack rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Lady Eagles with 11 points.
Faulkner's next game will be on the road against Selma on December 11. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
