Mobile rocks Faulkner 89-53

Box Score

MOBILE, Ala. - Faulkner rolled Mobile 74-66 at home in early January, but the Rams (14-8, 8-6 SSAC) retaliated with full force here in tonight's Southern States Athletic Conference showdown blasting the Lady Eagles (16-9, 8-7 SSAC) 89-53.

Mobile opened the contest with an 8-0 run and never trailed while slowly expanding its lead throughout.

Faulkner, which has been short-handed for the last several weeks, added a new name to the injured list on Saturday. Chelsea Burt, who took a hard knock in the William Carey game, was out of commission this evening leaving the lineup ultra thin at the point guard position.

A slowly-recovering China Leary, who's booked less than three minutes of action since the Coastal Georgia event on Jan. 14, did her best to work through a nagging injury and help pace the team at that position, however. The senior finished the game 2-for-2  with four points and a pair of rebounds in just under 12 minutes play.

Faith LeGate led the Lady Eagles on both sides of the ball with 16 points and six boards.

Olivia Adamson added eight points, four rebounds and two steals to the team totals while Courtney Yarbrough had seven points and a pair of rebounds.

Faulkner shot just 28 percent from the field and was out-rebounded 55 to 33 on the night.

The Lady Eagles will next travel to No. 24 Loyola for another league battle on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. in New Orleans.
