Strong second half lifts Loyola past Faulkner in SSAC tourney

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Fifth-seeded Faulkner (17-13) led fourth-seeded Loyola (22-8) by as many as 11 points deep in the first half and by four at halftime, but the Wolfpack outscored the Eagles 54-37 in the second half to clinch the 92-79 victory in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex downtown this evening.

 

Loyola dominated in every facet of the game en route to the win. The Wolfpack shot 53 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3-point territory and 78 percent from the free throw line while the Eagles shot 42, 33 and 67 percent, respectively. In addition, Loyola out-rebounded Faulkner 44 to 25.

 

First-team all-SSAC guard Di'mar Hill led all scorers with 27 points and added five rebounds, four assists and a pair of assists to his totals.

 

Second-team selection Logan Jozwiak followed with 18 points, weighted by 4-for-7 shooting from behind the arc, and offered up six rebounds and a pair of steals.
