MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 11 Eagles (13-3, 5-1 SSAC) 48 points in the second half to defeat Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Blue Mountain College 87-70 on Thursday night at Tine Davis Gymnasium.
It was a very close, fast-paced first half, as neither team was able to pull away from the other to grab a substantial lead to start the game. Faulkner went up by as many as 11 points in the first period, but the Toppers were able to fight their way back to within two points heading into halftime.
The second half was a much different story, as the Eagles were able to go on a 9-0 run that lasted less than a minute to extend their lead to 11, and Blue Mountain would not come within nine points for the rest of the game.
It was a strong night for Logan Jozwiak, who was able to record his fifth double-double on the season with 21 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
Rene Scott finished with 21 points off the bench, but also distributed the ball well, adding seven assists.
Marquis Grays came away with 17 points in the matchup.
Lucas Luttrell ended the game with 11 points, and was just shy of tallying a double-double with nine rebounds.
Faulkner's next game will be on Saturday at Tine Davis Gymnasium against SSAC foe No. 24 William Carey University. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
