SELMA, Ala. – The No. 11 Eagles basketball team (12-2, 4-0 SSAC) lost to the Concordia College Hornets 90-84 on Wednesday night.
It was a tight game from the start, but both teams were able to build up leads at different points in the matchup.
Concordia went up by as many as 11 points in the first half, but Faulkner was able to cut into that and take a six-point lead going into halftime when Marquis Grays knocked down a deep three at the buzzer.
The Eagles would go up by as many as 12 points in the second half, but the Hornets went into their full-court pressure defense, which cause problems for Faulkner down the stretch.
Concordia would go on to take a two-point lead with just under two minutes remaining, and they were able to hang on as the game came to a close.
The Eagles were led by Rene Scott who finished with a season-high 25 points and added five assists.
Logan Jozwiak finished with a double-double, tallying 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
C.J. Jones came away with 11 points and finished with six rebounds.
Faulkner will resume Southern States Athletic Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Georgia to take on No. 18 Dalton State. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. central.
