Box Score 2 The Lady Eagles (17-9, 8-2 SSAC) continued their hot streak with two victories Tuesday in Tine Davis Gymnasium defeating William Carey (12-13, 6-4 SSAC) in an SSAC matchup 25-13, 25-15, 21-25, 25-20 in the afternoon before knocking off cross-town foe Huntingdon in the nightcap 25-19, 25-19, 26-24.
In the crucial SSAC contest which could have drawn the Lady Crusaders even with Faulkner, the hosts rattled the visitors from the start powering 14 kills for an insane .419 team hitting percentage and forcing the guests into nine errors in the 12-point first set victory.
The defensive dominance and offensive prowess continued in the second set for the Lady Eagles with 13 kills and holding William Carey to a zero hitting percentage.
The Lady Crusaders found their confidence in the third frame and hit their best clip of the outing with a .267 in the four point win to force a fourth set.
Faulkner closed the door in the fourth set by being able to spark runs off Krystalynn Leomiti's serve, outscoring William Carey 6-2 when the senior from Long Beach, Calif. started the point.
The Lady Eagles controlled the conference match at the net with 10 blocks and 51 kills.
Daijah Washington, Kortney Barnes, and Leomiti all recorded double-digit kills. Alysa Vinson was one kill away from a double-double with nine kills and 15 digs. She also led the team with three aces. Alyssa Stagner recorded a double-double 23 assists and 13 digs. Julianne Wilkes picked up 31 digs.
In the 8:00 p.m. game, 14 aces led Faulkner to a straight sets win against NCAA Division III side Huntingdon. Washington recorded five, Stagner four and Vinson and Ingwersen each picked up a pair. Wilkes recorded the other ace.
Leomiti picked up 12 more kills in the match. Stagner led the team in assists and digs with 31 and 13 respectively.
The Lady Eagles currently sit one game above Martin Methodist and Bethel who are 6-2 in conference play and face each other Wednesday night in Pulaski in the race for regular season conference champion.
Faulkner will hit the road for Middle Georgia and Brewton-Parker this weekend. The top-of-the-conference team will face the Knights Friday night at 6 p.m. in Macon, Ga. and the Barons at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Vernon, Ga.
