Camara's 11th goal lifts Faulkner over Brewton-Parker

Box Score

A 36th minute strike from Augusto Camara gave the Eagles (5-7-2, 1-4 SSAC) their first SSAC win of the season 1-0 over Brewton-Parker (3-9, 0-6 SSAC) Thursday night at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium to keep Faulkner in the hunt for the postseason. The goal drew Camara even with Rodrigo Pontes for the program's single-season goal scoring record at eleven. He is currently five off the career record held by Pontes and Jarom Farnsworth with 18. This was his third game winning goal of the season.

Both sides battled for the full 90 in a chippy contest to keep postseason hopes alive and the Faulkner defense rose to the occasion, holding the Barons to just four shots on target and one corner kick. Brewton-Parker's best chance came in the 14th minute when Nathan Skaggs shot from the near corner of the six-meter box was denied by Caio Calado who has been in terrific form recently with now 11 saves in the past two matches while surrendering just two goals. Calado's four saves Thursday earned him his third clean sheet of the season.

The Eagles will host Middle Georgia State (1-12-1, 0-6 SSAC) Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Senior day will take place immediately following the women's game scheduled to start at 2. Faulkner is currently one game behind sixth place Dalton State for the last spot in the conference tournament.
