Faulkner overwhelms Florida College

The Lady Eagles (13-9, 5-2 SSAC) overwhelmed Florida College (9-6, 4-3 SSAC) in the first Southern States Athletic Conference matchup between the sides 25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15 Friday night at Tine Davis Gymnasium, continuing the hot streak to five wins in the last six matches. 

Faulkner's hot streak was too much to handle for the new SSAC side as the Lady Eagles were able to jump out to a dominant first set, leading by as much as 13 points in one instance. 

The Falcons battled back in the second set but were held back by eight errors in the frame allowing the home side to claim a 2-0 lead.

The third set was Faulkner's weakest with seven errors and a .075 attack percentage. Despite the struggles in the frame, the Lady Eagles led 23-22 before three consecutive Falcon points sent the contest to a fourth set. 

Faulkner answered to close the match the same way it started it with a controlling performance in the fourth, producing an advantage of as much as 11 points. 

Freshmen on both sides led the attack tonight as Alysa Vinson led the hosts with 13 kills and Catherine Trueheart for the guests with 15. 

Krystalynn Leomiti added 11 kills.

Katie Musser contributed another double-double with 23 assists and 15 digs. Alyssa Stagner picked up 15 assists in the 6-2 rotation.

Julianne Wilkes once again led the floor with 24 digs. 

Faulkner will face Loyola in an SSAC matchup Saturday at 2 p.m.
