Box Score The Lady Eagles (14-9, 6-2 SSAC) continued their hot-streak again Saturday afternoon at Tine Davis Gymnasium against SSAC foe Loyola, defeating the Wolf Pack (11-12, 2-6 SSAC) 27-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-23 to claim a tie for first place in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
"I'm extremely proud of the hard work and consistency that the girls have shown." head coach Tori Bartels said. "We now need to focus on closing out matches in three sets and not letting the intensity drop off. We've shown that we know how to fight back when trailing and win the set."
Faulkner trailed most of the way in the first set before rallying to take the extended frame. They used the momentum to dominate the second to the tune of an 11 point win. Loyola used a 10-1 run in the third set to force a fourth. The final set saw the Wolf Pack lead 19-15 before the Lady Eagles rattled off six consecutive points from guest attack errors, including two blocks from Krystalynn Leomiti and Tori Marchant to set the score at 21-19 in favor of the hosts. After Loyola climbed back to a 23-22 advantage, Faulkner scored the next three points to seal the match.
Kortney Barnes had 11 kills on 20 attacks for a .450 percentage. Katie Musser earned yet another double-double today with 20 assists and 15 digs. Alysa Vinson and Julianne Wilkes each picked up 18 digs. Marchant was a wall today at the net helping on 10 of the team's 15 blocks.
The Lady Eagles will play host to Mobile in Tine Davis Gymansium tenatively Thursday at 7 p.m. Game time subject to change due to Hurricane Michael.
