Lady Eagles defeat Middle Georgia in straight sets

Box Score

The Lady Eagles (9-8, 1-1 SSAC) controlled the match from start to finish against the Knights (1-4, 0-3 SSAC) in the first home conference game of the season 25-15, 25-18, 25-9 tonight at Tine Davis Gymnasium.

Faulkner never trailed by more than four points in a dominant effort tonight. Katie Musser (SR/Prattville, Ala.) was instrumental in spreading the ball around the court for her multitude of attackers to keep Middle Georgia State off balance defensively. She recorded a double-double with 14 digs and 18 assists, leading the floor in the latter.

No Lady Eagle tallied double-digit kills, but Daijah Washington (JR/Tallahassee, Fla.), Krystalynn Leomiti (SR/Long Beach, Calif.) and Kortney Barnes (SO/Mobile, Ala.) combined for 22 finishing attacks in the contest. Leomiti led the way with eight.

Alysa Vinson (FR/Pike Road, Ala.) and Leomiti accounted for two aces each, while Musser and Julianne Wilkes (JR/Deatsville, Ala.) each contributed one.

Wilkes's 24 digs set the bar for both sides once again tonight.

Faulkner will host Brewton-Parker tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Tine Davis Gymnasium in another Southern States Athletic Conference matchup.
