Box Score The Lady Eagles (10-9, 2-2 SSAC) narrowly fell 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 30-28 Tuesday night in Hattiesburg to William Carey (Miss.) (9-9, 4-1 SSAC) in a Southern States Athletic Conference match.
The Lady Crusaders jumped out to a solid first set win before Faulkner clawed back in the second with a four point win. The hosts, however, took the final two sets by two points apiece to take the match.
An uncharacteristic six service errors were costly to the Lady Eagles in the tight contest.
Tori Marchant spearheaded the attack with 12 kills on 22 attacks with just two errors to claim a .455 hitting percentage. Marchant was also successful blocking adding three and a half blocks.
Katie Musser recorded another double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs. Her setting partner, Alyssa Stagner, fell just shy of a double-double herself with 16 assists and nine digs.
Three Lady Eagles recored double-digit digs: Julianne Wilkes with 19, Alysa Vinson with 15, and the aforementioned Musser.
William Carey had three attackers record double-digit kills: Jordan Stephens with 19, Christine Kugelmann with 18, and Alexis Zulli with 13.
Faulkner will hit the road to Pulaski, Tenn. to face Martin Methodist Friday night at 7 p.m. The Lady Eagles are 16-10 all-time against the Redhawks.
