Box Score Following a comeback victory against Martin Methodist Friday night, the Lady Eagles (12-9, 4-2 SSAC) continued their hot streak with a 25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23 victory over an error-prone Bethel Saturday afternoon in McKenzie, Tenn. in a the SSAC game of the week to climb second in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
After taking the first two sets on the road, Faulkner faced a ferocious fight from the home side who found a way to win the third set. The Lady Eagles countered with a two point victory in the fourth frame to clinch the match.
The Lady Wildcats were committed 54 errors in the four set affair, 31 of which came from attacking miscues. Faulkner played a fairly mistake free game with only 15 errors, 13 of the hitting variety.
The Lady Eagles were able to take down a Bethel side who defeated Mobile Friday night to hand the Rams their first conference loss since 2016.
Daijah Washington led the Eagles with 14 points coming from 10 kills and four aces.
Setters Katie Musser and Alyssa Stagner evenly split 40 assists on the night.
Julianne Wilkes recorded 27 digs in the win.
"I am extremely proud of the girls this weekend," head coach Tori Bartels said. "This was a big weekend for us, not only because of the two wins but because we found confidence and a rhythm. They stepped up and learned they can comeback and accomplish anything if they believe and work hard and that is exactly what they did."
Faulkner will host a pair of SSAC matchups Friday and Saturday at Tine Davis Gymnasium. Florida College will make its SSAC debut in Montgomery Friday night at 6 and Loyola will roll into town Saturday at 2 p.m.
