Box Score The third-ranked Rams were able to find two goals from Victor Pimentel within 135 seconds to take down the Eagles 2-0 Saturday night at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium in the Southern States Athletic Conference game of the week.
Pimentel scored his first when a clearance from a corner bounced to Tamuki Jeannin. Jeannin played the ball to Pimentel was able to get behind the defenders and score. Faulkner argued that he was offside in a tight call, but the referees stood by their decision and Mobile took a 1-0 lead in the 72nd minute. Moments later while the home side was trying to regroup from the decision, Sammy Chillman found Pimentel on a corner and it was knocked in to put the game out of reach in the 74th.
The best chance of the night for the Eagles in the 53rd minute when Pedro Moura sprung free on a through ball and faced a one-on-one with defending SSAC golden gloves winner Guilherme Altoe. Altoe made a diving stop coming high off his line and kept the scoreboard blank for the time being.
Faulkner will take a brief break from SSAC play when it travels to Pensacola Tuesday to face Pensacola Christian in the return leg of the Border Cup after winning the first 6-1. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
