Box Score 2 Faulkner (8-7) impressed in its split of contests played in the Reinhardt Tri-Match with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 victory over Brenau before falling to (RV) Reinhardt 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14 in Waleska, Ga. this afternoon.
The Lady Eagles found their attack today against the Golden Tigers using a .412 attacking percentage to sweep the former SSAC opponent.
Krystalynn Leomiti picked up nine kills on just 13 attempts to lead the flock. Katie Musser and Alyssa Stagner both picked up 16 assists.
Faulkner showed Reinhardt what they are capable of in the second match. After taking the first and third sets, the Lady Eagles pushed the hosting Eagles to a fifth set. Only three other matches have gone the distance against the receiving votes side. The previous five-set battles were played at neutral sites and two were against ranked opponents.
With a receiving votes team against the ropes in the decisive set up 14-11, Faulkner was serving for the match. A Faulkner attack error started a five-point rally for the hosts who came from behind to win the frame 16-14.
Leomiti was unstoppable in the match firing 20 kills while assisting on three blocks and picking up nine digs. Daijah Washington added 12 kills, seven digs and one and a half blocks. Kortney Barnes tallied nine kills and a block. Musser chambered 32 assists.
The Lady Eagles will open Southern States Athletic Conference play Tuesday night in Mobile when they face the defending conference champions at 7:30 p.m.
