Faulkner falls to Middle Georgia in overtime

Faulkner erased a five-point deficit in the final 38 seconds of regulation to force overtime before losing 95-90 to Middle Georgia State Monday night. 

C.J. Jones (JR/Port Richey, Fla.) hit a three from the corner to cut the deficit to 76-74 before making a pair of free throws two seconds later to tie game. In the overtime period, Faulkner took a three-point lead on a Milan Skundric (JR/Negotin, Serbia) and-1. 

The teams traded the lead until 1:42 to play when Darrell White drained a triple to put Middle Georgia up 85-84. De'Miria Glover stretched the advantage before White took over to ice the game with 11 points in the bonus period. 

Faulkner led by as many 15 in the second half before Middle Georgia embarked upon a 27-6 run to take control of the game. Nate Bradley (JR/Concord, N.Y.) scored the next eight Eagle points to stop the bleeding and narrow the gap to 71-67. 

Faulkner shot 42.7 percent from the floor and 30.3 percent from beyond the arc in the game. The Eagles surrendered 44 rebounds while grabbing 41. 

Jones led Faulkner with 24 points and eight rebounds. Skundric had 20 points and 12 boards. Bradley turned in a career high 18 points. 

White finished with 28 points after having scored only three in the first half. Chancellor Lockett finished with 15 points and seven rebounds while Glover had 14 points. 

Faulkner (12-7, 5-6 SSAC) returns to action Thursday when it plays at Bethel.
