Box Score Faulkner struggled to slow down Bethel in the second half Thursday, falling 93-78 in an SSAC road contest. The Wildcats hung 56 points in the game's final 20 minutes, capitalizing on second chance opportunities to distance themselves from Faulkner. Bethel grabbed 21 of its 52 total rebounds on the offensive end, helping to make up for its own turnover woes. The plus-13 rebounding margin helped Bethel overcome 17 turnovers and a 26.7 percent night from beyond the arc.
The Eagles, who never led in the contest, trailed by as many as 10 in the first half and whittled the deficit to one before heading to halftime behind 37-31. Faulkner cut the Bethel lead to five with 7:13 to play before an 8-0 Wildcat run over the next 80 seconds ballooned the advantage to 72-59.
Faulkner proved unable to cash in on a career high 30 points from Milan Skundric (JR/Negotin, Serbia). Rene Scott (JR/Mobile, Ala.) finished with 18 points while C.J. Jones (JR/Port Richey, Fla.) had 12 and Trace Hill (FR/Hartselle, Ala.) notched 10 to give the Eagles four in double figures.
For its part, Faulkner shot only 39 percent from the floor and just 20.8 percent from three while committing 19 turnovers on the night.
Chase Nappier led Bethel with 25 points. Charles Cobb had 13 while Cayden Edmondson notched 11. Noah Chatman and Foday Sankaray scored 10 apiece.
Faulkner (12-8, 5-7 SSAC) returns to action Saturday when it travels to Blue Mountain.
