Shooting woes doom Lady Eagles in road loss to Martin

Shooting woes plagued Faulkner throughout much of Saturday's 69-51 setback at Martin Methodist, handing the Lady Eagles their third SSAC loss of the season.

Faulkner shot a woeful 8.3 percent from behind the arc on 12 attempts in the first half, trailing 33-22 at halftime. The Lady Eagles, who never led in the game, trailed by as many as 24 in the fourth quarter while shooting 31 percent from the field and 17.4 percent from behind the arc. Faulkner turned the ball over 24 times while Martin committed 22 turnovers. The Lady Eagles won the rebounding battle 42-38.

Martin's Faith Sherrow led all scorers with 22 points while Treasure Hunt finished with 17. Olivia Colson (FR/Thompson's Station, Tenn.) had 14 points for Faulkner while Kayla Key (JR/Hartselle, Ala.) finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Angela Grant (FR/Hoover, Ala.) had 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Faulkner (9-5, 2-3 SSAC) return to action Thursday when it hosts Stillman College.
